Library Rules (Corporate/Reading Access Membership)
1 Members are required to sign the visitor’s form at the Information Services Counter upon every visit to the Library, and their organisations’ staff cards must be produced to verify the users and monitor usage.
2 Membership cards must be produced when using the Library's facilities and services, or when requested by the Library Staff.
3 Loss of membership card must be reported to the Library immediately. Members are responsible for all loans issued in their names, until such time when a report of the loss is made to and is acknowledged by the Library.
4 Membership card is not transferable. The card may not be lent or used to admit anyone else except the authorised card holder.
5 No playing of games e.g. cards, board games, etc. in the Library.
6 Silence is to be observed at the Library, except at designated discussion areas, so as to provide a quiet atmosphere conducive to study and research. Hand phones are to be kept on the silent mode or switched off.
7 Reservation of seats is not permitted.
8 Food and drinks cannot be brought into the Library. Smoking and consumption of food or drinks are strictly prohibited in the Library except for the food and drinks purchased at the library cafe which are to be consumed within the enclosed area at Level 4, Centre Wing.
9 The Library bears no responsibility for the loss or damage of personal belongings or properties, on its premises.
10 Audio-visual equipment is for use with library materials only. No viewing of personal media resources is allowed.
11 PCs are for use with library materials. Members may have their membership or membership privileges cancelled or withdrawn if found:
- tampering with setup programs, or
- chatting, or playing games on the PCs, or
- viewing objectionable materials on the PCs
12 Vandalism and theft are offences punishable by Law.
13 Members who contravene any of the Library Rules, or commit any disciplinary offence of smoking, littering, improper dressing, disrespectful behavior, any acts of disturbance, or any other minor offences, will be asked to leave the Library. Such members may also have their privileges or entire membership suspended or withdrawn completely.
14 Library privileges will be immediately suspended when borrower has overdue loans or outstanding payments.
15 Members are to abide by the Library Rules & Regulations. Privileges or entire membership may be withdrawn for contravention of or non-compliance with any Library Rules & Regulations.
16 Library Staff reserves the right to inspect the contents of bags and personal belongings brought into the Library.
17 Photography, filming, videotaping, and audio-taping are not allowed without the prior permission of the Library.
18 The Polytechnic reserves the right to amend or change the Library Rules & Regulations, and terms and conditions of membership, without prior notice or explanation.
