Before you return
Check for any damage and lost component(s) before returning, and report issues to the Information Services Counter.
A glossy RFID tag is affixed to the back of each book.
Books without this glossy RFID tag cannot be detected by the book drop sensor.
If this is the case, visit the Information Services Counter on Level 4.
Overdue items and fines
A reminder email will be sent 3 days before your item’s due date to help you avoid fines.
If an item becomes overdue, overdue notices will be sent.
Overdue fines are $0.10 per day per item.
If fines remain unpaid, borrowing, reservations, and renewals will be temporarily suspended until the outstanding amount is cleared.
If an item is 35 days overdue, it will be considered lost and replacement charges will apply.
Not receiving an email reminder does not waive overdue fines.
Reminder emails are not sent for short-loan items, such as those borrowed from the Smart Locker or our Library of Things collection, do keep track of your due dates.
Lost or damaged items
Report lost or damaged items to the library immediately.
Charges (subject to GST) include:
Replacement cost of the item.
Processing fee of $10.00 per item.
If part of a set/series: cost of the full set will be charged.
If an item has accompanying material (e.g. CD, DVD, manual): cost of both the main item and the accompanying material.
Note: Return found items at the Information Services Counter on Level 4 before paying fines.
If the item is found before payment, only overdue fines apply.
If the item is returned after payment, no refund will be given. The returned item will be given to the borrower.
Payments are non-refundable.
