The Power Search lets you search across NYP OPAC, library catalogues from local tertiary institutions, databases, Google and Yahoo – with a single query. To effectively search the Portal, a maximum of 5 e-resources is recommended at one go.
Basic Search Basic search is a keyword search across various fields such as title, author and subject. Advanced Search Combine keyword search in various fields such as title, author and subject using the Boolean Operators AND, OR, or NOT. Limit your search results by publication date.
Save Search Results Click on 'Save this search' to save search results.
E-Mail Search Results Click on 'Email Search Results' to send search results to your mailbox.
View/Delete/Reuse Saved Searches Click on 'View Saved Searches' to view/delete saved searches, or reuse the search query.
Number of Results Specify the number of items to display on each search results page.
Word Mapping Expand your search results using the criteria below:
Acronym (a word formed from the initial letters of a name), e.g. "IP" retrieves works containing "IP" and its variant forms such as "Intellectual Property". Homonym (words that sound alike but have unrelated meanings), e.g. see and sea. Synonym (words that have the same or nearly the same meaning), e.g. airplane and aeroplane.
To renew selected title(s): Click on the check-box next to the title(s) before clicking on "Renew Selections" button
To renew ALL titles: Click on "Renew All" button.
To clear your selections / to reselect: Click again on the checkbox to "uncheck" the item(s), or click on "Clear Selections" button to clear all selections
* Pls note that an item can be renewed only if there are no reservations placed on it, it is not overdue and you have no outstanding library payment.
To cancel selected title(s): Click on the check box next to the title(s) before clicking on "Cancel Selected Reservation" button.

How to add new title alert profile ? Login to myLibrary, click on myResources > Add New Title Alert Profile.
Step 1. Create a search profile Select a search option from the drop-down list and enter the search term. Use the AND, OR and NOT operators for a combined search. You may also narrow down your search to specific years of publication, locations, collections, languages or materials.
Step 2. - Test your search Click on the 'Search' button to test the number and the type of the records found based on the search profile you have created in step 1.
Step 3. - Set a Frequency You can choose daily, weekly or monthly. Any new titles matching your search profile will be scanned accordingly.
Step 4. - Assign an Expiry Date If you do not want to be notified after a specific date, enter an expiry date.
Step 5. - Add a Description {mandatory} Provide a short description of your profile so that you can recognize it in your profile list.
How to search for Past Exam Papers ? Login to myLibrary, Search for Exam Papers. You can search for exam papers by EITHER Module Code OR Module Name.
Search by Module Code (Exact Match) 1. Click on the radio button next to "Module Code". 2. Type in the exact module code in full e.g. IT1101, BM0256 3. Click on the "Submit" button or hit the 'ENTER' key.
Search by Module Name 1. Click on the radio button next to "Module Name". 2. Enter a phrase e.g. "computing mathematics", "financial statement". 3. You can limit your search results by School AND/OR Academic Year. 4. You can sort the results by either Module Code or Module Name. 5. Click on the "Submit" button or hit the 'ENTER' key.
